The Glass Slipper
The 20 video clips were produced as a result of workshops and performances around the learning and participation work associated with The Glass Slipper at Northern Stage.

Costume workshop

There are five video clips that lead you through a costume making workshop. The session is led by the designer of the show Angela Simpson who you can find out more about in A designer's view page accessible from the homepage. You will need walloper end rolls and the usual paint and glue to create 18th century ball costumes.

The young people featured in the Your Performance clips started their project by making a costume to wear in their own versions of elements of the well known story.

Some background information about the Th Glass Slipper

Cinderella and The Little Glass Slipper" (French: Cendrillon ou La petite Pantoufle de Verre, German: Aschenputtel) is a folk tale embodying a myth-element of unjust oppression and triumphant reward. Thousands of variants are known throughout the world.
The title character is a young woman living in unfortunate circumstances that are suddenly changed to remarkable fortune.
The word "cinderella" has, by analogy, come to mean one whose attributes are unrecognised, or one who unexpectedly achieves recognition or success after a period of obscurity and neglect. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinderella)
